About Us

Anarchy Labs is launching the Skatepunkz NFT Series, inspired by writer and professional photographer Sean Sullivan’s book and experiences, as described in this article.

The phrase “Skate Punk” was already a part of skateboarding culture long before the birth of Cryptopunks. It was a term associated with the skateboarding movement in the late ’80s and early ’90s. ‘Skatepunkz’ were once recognized by loud, punk rock music and apparel worn while skateboarding on city streets in the United States. Sean Sullivan, a young skateboarder at the time, began documenting the activity and culture of this movement for Thrasher Skateboarding magazine during this era.

Sean grew up in Southern California, where he was also a skateboarder and punk music enthusiast. During the decade between 1985 and 1995, Sean shot an enormous number of skateboarding videos. In 1990, he began working as a snowboard photographer all over the world for 15 years; during this time, much of the prior decade’s skateboarding videos went unseen.

In 2017, Sean Sullivan published a coffee table book entitled Barge @ Will, which chronicled his work photographing the skateboarders and punk rock scene of the late 1980s. The book was a commercial success and became a virtual guidebook of the pre-digital era known as the skateboarding golden days.

The energy of this era is now being revived and re-ignited for the post-millennial generation in the form of SKATEPUNKZ, a one-of-a-kind NFT offering on the Solana Blockchain.

The Skatepunkz NFT series has 10,000 hand-drawn illustrations with random features drawn from over 200 possibilities including Male and Female figures, several ethnicities, dozens of clothing choices ranging from pants to sunglasses, jackets, tattoos, hat variations, and much more! There’s even a highly unusual disabled Skatepunk that may be acquired by one lucky person through the minting process.

Adding authenticity to the project, these attributes were derived directly from the classic photography created by Sean Sullivan during the era featured in his Barge @ Will Book.

The Skatepunkz NFT series will debut on November 18th, and it is designed to provide a new and original perspective on NFTs that has yet to be seen. It will also aim to take the title as the first completely REAL punk design extracted from real life history.
